Newton is a city of thirteen distinct villages, and moving here looks different from a downtown Boston job. Most Newton moves involve single-family homes with driveways, larger inventories, and furniture that has lived in one place for years. Harbor Moving LLC handles Newton moves of every size, from village condos to full family homes, with crews equipped for the heavier pieces suburban houses tend to hold.
Parking & Permits in Newton
Many Newton streets allow a moving truck to load from the driveway, which simplifies the day considerably. On streets without driveway access or with parking restrictions, the city can require a temporary parking permit for the truck — check with the city before move day rather than assuming the curb is available. Newton's resident parking program runs through the Police Department, so streets near village centers can be tighter than they look. When you request your quote, tell us whether the truck can use a driveway at each address and we will plan the loading setup accordingly.
What We Move in Newton
Newton homes tend to mean bigger inventories: full bedroom sets, dining rooms, home offices, playrooms, and the occasional piano. We send crews sized for the actual job and bring the equipment for heavy or awkward pieces — stair-climbing dollies, furniture blankets, and door protection for every home. Many Newton customers also ask about packing help, since a whole house takes far longer to box up than an apartment. Our packing service runs at an hourly per-packer rate with materials included, and we can handle the full pack or just the fragile and time-consuming rooms.
Neighborhoods We Serve
Harbor Moving LLC serves all thirteen Newton villages, including Newtonville, West Newton, Auburndale, Newton Centre, Newton Highlands, and Chestnut Hill. The Mass Pike (I-90) and Route 9 run through the city, and the Green Line plus commuter rail stations at Newtonville, West Newton, and Auburndale connect every village to Boston. Whether you are moving across Newton or into the city from the suburbs, we plan the route around real traffic patterns, not just the map distance.
A Newton move is about the right crew for a bigger job. Evening and weekend scheduling is available, and every quote is written out clearly with no hidden fees.
